AUSTIN, Minn. — Cotter needed to beat Rochester Lourdes twice to win the Section 1AA Softball Tournament on Thursday at Todd Park in Austin, Minn.

The Ramblers won the first, but couldn’t take the second.

Cotter pitcher Isabel Northrop pitched a shutout and hit a solo home run as her team won the first game 2-0.

But things went south fast for the Ramblers in the second game, which Lourdes won 4-0.

The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

They added a fourth run in the third inning and kept the Ramblers off the board.

Cotter threatened in the fifth with a leadoff double, but couldn’t capitalize.

The Ramblers fell into the loser’s bracket after losing to Lourdes 4-1 on Tuesday, but moved on to the championship game by defeating Chatfield 2-0.

Cotter ends its season with a 23-4 record and a berth in the section championship game.

The Ramblers say goodbye to four seniors including Northrop, Britney Meier, Natalie Marg, and Ellie McRaith.
