Last week, the Supreme Court did not rule regarding “gerrymandering” — deferring to a political state. (Gerrymandering, for those who might not know, is the ability of a state’s majority politics to set representative voting boundaries.)
These lines can be quite obviously politically motivated. Some districts are a few miles wide but dozens of miles in length.
As a moderate, when first read the SCOTUS decision, I was disappointed. Then, later, I read on page 6 or so about two neighborhoods in Chicago, 12 miles apart; the life-expectancy differs by decades, due to one neighborhood being more violent. Well, whose fault is that? I asked myself! Not the cops.
Then, much later, I thought about it all and wondered what the Constitution states, so looked it up.
Then, I perused volumes of a patriotic early American publication. “The Federalist Papers,” and again thought about it!
I soon concluded, SCOTUS was correct!
Tough for some to swallow, but maybe these are lazy dingers too?
Complaining is not “involvement.” I wondered, “How many complainers even vote?”
Then I read the Minneapolis Star Tribune editorial on Sunday, June 30. The editorial echoed my oft complaint of citizen apathy, suggesting “getting involved.”
Basically, do you think freedom is free and deserved, because you are and stay uninvolved, because you are lazy?
If so, you should just shut the (heck) up. No hiding behind freedom (Constitution). You forfeited your “liberty-say” by not-doing.
What are you? Scofflaw.
“Scofflaw” includes “party wonks.” They’re no different than the presdient many of us complain about. Selfish, lazy, “me-firsters.”
Is your situation generally fixable? Get to it. Help fix it.
Doesn’t matter if you are wealthy, poor, a businessperson or labor, work as a gym or art teacher or are unemployed. If you do exactly what America’s founders feared when they gave us a nation, nothing, you are just another complaining scofflaw.
Congress included. Like us, Congress is the enemy.
Independence Day is not for the spoiled, the lazy, the baby whiners. Scofflaws are no different than grifters who scam everyone they meet and know.
These “Kingfisher” dingers drive through stop signs and leave shopping carts strewn about, hustle and talk a lot. Basically, it is, “I got mine” selfishness!
All cost us time, money and harm the freedom and the “independence” they are so-quick to scream about, when denied.
If the shoe fits, you’re lazy; living off others, like Trump, but with less cash.
Scofflaws don’t “do.”
SCOTUS isn’t supposed to choose for you or do “your” American job. There is never a free lunch!
We get the governance and neighborhood we deserve.
You love anything, get to working for it.
It’s Independence Day boyo, change.
