A man was seriously injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Roads 25 and 114 in Winona County.
A small truck that appeared to be carrying grain went off the road and into a creek bed, where the cab of the truck was buried into the creek bank.
The incident was called in at about 10:30 a.m., and the driver of the truck was trapped in the cab for three hours as emergency crews worked to free him and get him medical attention. His name was not released Monday.
Using a backhoe and the Jaws of Life, crews were able to unearth the truck cab and administer medical attention, and at about 1:30 p.m. they pulled the driver from the truck onto a stretcher and carried him up the steep, muddy creek bank. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Winona County Sheriff’s Department, Rollingstone first responders, Altura Ambulance, Winona Area Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
