Winona County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday

2:40 p.m.— Deputies were called to the 1900 block of County Road 33 in Altura after a caller reported he had been assaulted by a fellow employee while trying to leave work on a break.

The suspect allegedly punched the man in the head and knocked him to the ground, continuing to kick him.

The man was transported to St. Mary’s hospital for his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office, and the incident is under investigation for possible charges.

4:30 p.m.— A woman reported that she had received a suspicious package containing white powder to a residence on the 2400 block of Blackberry Road in Winona. Sheriff’s deputies took the package to determine its contents.

11:35 a.m. — Affordable Auto reported a white 2006 Dodge pickup truck, valued at approximately $1,800, missing from its lot on the 750 block of East Third Street.

The reporting party told police the truck was last seen on the lot on July 6.

1:23 p.m. — The Sinclair West gas station on the 1600 block of West Service Drive reported a gas drive-off in the amount of $38.

1:54 p.m. — A kids’ pink Trek bike with a black basket was reported stolen from the Bob Welch Aquatic Center.

3:18 p.m. — Brett Allen Maus, 29, was referred on charges of third-degree drunk driving and intent to evade motor vehicle tax after officers found him sleeping in his car at McNally Landing on Prairie Island Road. Maus’s blood alcohol content was reported at 0.25.

4:01 p.m. — The Freedom gas station on Johnson Street reported a gas drive-off in the amount of $10.

5:36 p.m. — A woman driving near Sixth and Pelzer streets reported that her vehicle was struck with two BB gun pellets, producing two dents.

5:56 p.m. — Liza Jane McIntire, 40, Winona, was referred on charges of first-degree drunk driving after a caller reported that her vehicle struck the wall of the Super 8 Motel on Sugarloaf Road.

Officers smelled alcohol in the vehicle and observed that McIntire had bloodshot, watery eyes, according to the police department.

McIntire also had an outstanding warrant in Allamakee County, Iowa, police said, and had three prior drunk driving charges in the last 10 years.

Her blood alcohol content was reported at 0.28.

6:09 p.m. — A Winona man reported the theft of a black mountain bike with white stickers from the Bob Welch Aquatic Center.
