Gary Evans, former president and CEO of Hiawatha Broadband Communications and a former vice president at Winona State University, received the “Friend of the CGMC” Award from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities Aug. 21 during the coalition’s summer conference in Rochester.
The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have been strong allies in advancing the interests of greater Minnesota. After a successful career in business and education, Evans is serving as the first-ever president of the Greater Minnesota Partnership, a sister organization of the coalition.
This year, he played a key role in advancing legislation to create a broadband infrastructure fund to help bring high-quality broadband to parts of the state that currently lack adequate access.
