It’s time again for the Sheephead Classic Fishing Tournament. The 16th annual fundraiser supporting the fight against childhood cancer will take place in Nelson, WI on Saturday, June 22, rain or shine. The event is dedicated to the memory of Ashley Brommer, who lost her fight against leukemia in 2001. All proceeds benefit The Children’s Cancer Research Fund. Come and be part of the tradition at Werner’s Top Hat Bar in friendly downtown Nelson from noon to 10 p.m.

The generosity and dedication of many contributors has generated over $70,000 for the charity in the last 15 years. The Children’s Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer by providing funds to the University of Minnesota for research and training relating to the prevention, treatment and cure of childhood cancer.

Those who would like to participate in the fishing contest can sign up prior to or day of the event at Werner’s Top Hat Bar on Main Street in Nelson. Chicken, brats and pulled pork dinners will be served from noon until gone. T-shirts are on sale now. There will be silent and live auctions, a bake sale, games, raffles and live music by Mercy Wildfire.
