Ruth (Pierzina) Kostner, 77, of Winona peacefully passed away at the Winona Health Hospital Saturday, June 22, 2019, surrounded by her immediate family.

She was born Jan. 1, 1942, to Adolph and Albina (Klink) Pierzina. On June 14, 1960, Ruth married her high school sweetheart, George Kostner. Together they shared 59 years and raised a beautiful family.

Throughout her life, Ruth wore many hats; however, her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a steady, loving presence in her family’s lives and was always there when they needed her.

Ruth is survived by her husband, George of Winona; four children, Mary Jo (Michael) Bell of Goodview, Minn., Anthony (Yun Ne) Kostner of Copperas, Texas, Kim (Jim) Kostner-Glende of Winona, and Mechelle (Jeff) Cierzan of Goodview; eight grandchildren, Justin (Jess) Bell, Jordan (Casi) Bell, Katherine (Tom) Bell, Diana Isenberg, Hanna Kostner, Danielle (Phil) Steffes, Nathaniel Kostner-Cierzan, Nastasha (James) Hanrehan, Mariah Cierzan, and Gabby Cierzan; and 12 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Evan Bell, Kennedy and Kendall Bell, Zoey Isenberg, George and Ella Steffes, Aleah and Aubry Hanrehan, Zander and Teagan Breza and Kaiden Cierzan. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Janice Russell of Carrollton, Texas; and her sisters-in-law, Kathy Kostner of Sottsdale, Ariz., Jackie Sonsalla of Arcadia, Wis., and Mary (Bob) Wozney of Arcadia.
