Joe Vogel, 32, of Winona, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at his parents’ home surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born April 29, 1978, in Winona to Thomas and Mary (Wissman) Vogel. He was a lifelong area resident, graduated from Cotter High School in 1996 and attended Winona State University, studying business and marketing.

On June 30, 2006, he married Rachel Salisbury in Winona. Joe was employed by Frito Lay Co., Winona, and was part of the “Frito Gang.” He was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church, Winona, the Lewiston Cancer Group, and will forever be the honorary president of Team Vogel.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel, Winona; parents, Tom and Mary Vogel, Winona; two sisters, Angela (Charles) Daley, Charlotte, N.C.; and their children Nate and Theo, and Katherine (Cody) Rothering, Winona, and their son Brody; maternal grandparents, Bill and Doris Wissman, Winona; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bea and Kevin Salisbury, Winona; sister-in-law, Amanda (Jeff) Weifenbach, Winona, and their children Kirsten and Payton. He is also survived by his “doghter” Zoe and rabbit Skittles; and aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and all the members of Team Vogel.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Vogel, and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Scott.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Winona, with the Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, and at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Casket bearers will be Erik Olson, David Zimprich, Roger Hemker, Scott Haug, John Heal, and Randy Knecht.
