RUSHFORD — Joe Kolls’ second-place finish in the triple jump pushed the Cotter High School boys track and field team over Pine Island in the MSHSL Section 1A True Team meet for the Ramblers’ second trip to state in as many years.

The Ramblers beat Pine Island by 11 points.

“That’s more then what I thought,” Cotter coach David Jewison said. “Those triple jump results pushed us ahead. All of our athletes did a great job today.”

With three events left, Cotter was one point behind Pine Island, but a win in the 1600-meter relay as well as Marcell Brown’s top-10 finish in the triple jump helped the Ramblers.

Cotter also won 3200 relay and Jacob Johnson won the 800.

Matt Schrupp placed second in the 1600 and fourth in the 800.

The Ramblers’ 800 relay placed second and placing third was Joe Tereba (3200), Matt Kiss (long jump) and Will White (shot put).
