(2008/05/08) For Thursday, May 8, 2008 Winona March 29 9:40 p.m. — Employees at Midtown Foods on Gilmore Avenue reported a man shoplifting six steaks and kielbasa sausage all worth about $49. Police issued a citation for misdemeanor theft to Nicholas Robert Speltz, 47, of Winona.
(2008/05/07) For Monday, May 5, 2008 Winona / Sunday 1:05 a.m. — Police were notified of a black truck driving erratically down Highway 43 into Winona. Officers observed the truck driving on the wrong side of the road near Fourth and Winona streets and stopped it at Third and Olmstead streets.
(2008/05/04) For Saturday, May 3, 2008 Friday 3:16 p.m. — 917 E. King St. — A carbon monoxide/combustible gas monitor alarmed showing a combustible gas present. The residence was monitored but no evidence of a problem was found. 3:30 p.m.
(2008/05/04) For Saturday, May 3, 2008 Winona Wednesday 10:39 p.m. — Two people reported being bitten by a brown-and-white cat in the 50 block of Fairfax Street. A girl stopped petting the cat and it bit her. Her father tried to read information on a PetSafe invisible-fence collar it was wearing, and the cat bit him, too. Anyone with any information about the cat is asked to call Animal Control at (507) 457-6294 so the cat can be tested for disease.

(2008/05/01) Winona Saturday 2:50 a.m. — Police stopped Kaitlyn Frances Carothers, 20, of Minnesota City, for running a red light at the intersection of Broadway and Franklin Street. She appeared intoxicated and was arrested. A breath test at the jail found her blood-alcohol concentration to be 0.08 percent. She was charged with drunken driving, underage drinking and driving with a suspended license.
(2008/04/28) Winona April 19 4:38 p.m. — Employees at the Kwik Trip on Cottonwood Drive reported a gas drive-off. Police later cited Abuldadir Mohammed, 22, of St. Paul, for theft of $46.56 worth of gas.
(2008/04/27) For Saturday, April 26, 2008 Winona Wednesday 11 a.m. — Police arrested Terry Carlton Ross, 30, of Goodview, in the 800 block of 54th Avenue in Goodview on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct. He was held in Winona County Jail on a fugitive
(2008/04/25) Winona Wednesday 3:22 p.m. — Police received a report of a cement block being thrown onto the windshield of a car in the 100 block of East Sanborn Street sometime during the weekend. The block did not break through the windshield, but it did cause damage to the glass, hood and bumper. Police have no suspects.
(2008/04/24) For Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Winona Monday 12:20 a.m. — Police stopped Jason Allen Kniseley, 25, of Rushford, Minn., in the area of McBride Street and Broadway and cited him for driving with a revoked license. He was instructed not to drive his car, but 30 minutes later, he was seen climbing in through the passenger door. He was stopped again and was arrested on suspicion of gross misdemeanor drunken driving. He had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.14 percent and has been referred to the county attorney’s office for charges.

When officers arrived, two of them said the green globe was a “party trophy” that travels from party to party. Because they didn’t know who the globe actually belonged to, officers confiscated it.

(2008/04/17) Winona March 28 2:16 a.m. — An employee at Schniepp’s Bar on East Sanborn Street reported a window broken on the front of the building. After an investigation, police were unable to contact Brett John Dennis, 21, of Winona, so they mailed him a citation for damage to property. The window cost $414.14 to replace.
(2008/04/17) Wednesday 1:41 p.m. — 250 W. Howard St. — Personnel responded to a smoke odor in the building andtracked it to a faulty and overheated compact fluorescent lightbulb. 4:05 p.m.
(2008/04/16) For Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Winona Friday 5:18 p.m. — A woman reported her car was broken into in the 550 block of Cottonwood Drive. The rear window of her Honda Accord was smashed and a purse was stolen. The woman said the purse contained a checkbook, credit cards, $25 cash and possibly a diamond ring. No value was given on the ring, and police are continuing to investigate.
(2008/04/15) Winona Saturday 4:07 p.m. — A witness called police to report a hit-and-run accident. The witness notified police that there was a semi cab parked behind Shopko that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the accident. The driver of the semi truck was identified as Mitchell Allen Rider, 47, of Burt, Iowa, and is being charged with third-degree drunken driving, open container and second-degree test refusal.

(2008/04/11) Thursday morning, April 10, 2008 Winona County Saturday 1:08 a.m. n While investigating a burglary on Runaway Drive in Dakota, Minn., a pickup truck pulled up to deputies to inquire what was going on. Both occupants appeared intoxicated and deputies arrested the driver Dale Wade Schuldt, 40, of Dakota, on suspicion of drunken driving. Officers found a marijuana pipe in his pants pocket and an open can of Budweiser beer in the center console, which Schuldt admitted was his. Schuldt had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.20 percent and was referred to the county attorney’s office for charges of gross misdemeanor drunken driving, open bottle in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
(2008/04/10) Wednesday morning, April 9, 2008 Winona Tuesday 3:10 p.m. n Officers got a tip that a man with a warrant out for his arrest was at a residence in the 150 block of Mankato Avenue. Upon arrival, they were given permission to search the house and they found Craig Ray Hanville, 35, of Winona, hiding under a mattress. He was arrested on the warrant related to a driving after cancellation charge and was also cited for obstructing the legal process.

Peterson admitted stealing an Xbox video game console, controllers and a game and then selling the items at the Warp Zone used video game shop on Huff Street for $15. The Xbox and controllers were recovered.

A 2005 Buick driven by Ardyce Yvonne Brabbit, 75, collided with a 1999 GMC Yukon driven by Milton James Ronnenberg, 77. There were no injuries, just damage to both vehicles. Brabbit was cited for failure to yield.

An employee for the Rivers Hotel Co. reported a snow blower, a drill press, a miter box and a radial arm saw all worth at least $1,090 taken since sometime after 11 p.m. Friday. There was no sign of forced entry.
(2008/04/02) Monday morning, March 31, 2008 Winona Friday 7 a.m. n Police responded to a report of a damaged vehicle in the 1750 block of Kraemer Drive. Upon arrival, a 23-year-old woman showed officers four slashed tires on her Dodge Durango and told them she received a text message from her ex-boyfriend, whom she has a restraining order against. Police later found and arrested a 29-year-old Winona man on suspicion of violating an order for protection. He was referred to the county attorney’s office for charges.
(2008/03/31) MARCH 29 2:42 p.m. — Police arrested a 15-year-old male for shoplifting at Fleet Farm in Winona. The juvenile allegedly stole a turkey call worth $5.49. The case has been referred to the county attorney.
(2008/03/30) For Sunday, March 30, 2008 Winona Friday 7 a.m. — Police arrested Lance Edward Thill, 29, of Winona for violating an order for protection. According to police reports, Thill sent a woman a text message at around 2 a.m. Friday. Text messaging violated the order, and police booked him into the Winona County Jail, where he was still in custody Saturday morning.
(2008/03/29) For Saturday, March 29, 2008 Winona Thursday 10:50 p.m. — Police were called to a residence at 411 Dakota St. for a noise disturbance. When they arrived, police said they could hear voices and loud noises from a distance away. Renters there admitted they had been warned earlier about the noise. Andrew Bailey, 21, of Winona and Daniel Salsieder, 21, of Wausau, Wis., were both cited for having a loud party.

According to witness and victim statements, a 19-year-old man, who had some previous problems with Jason Charles Enos, 19, of Winona, was at a party with some friends. Enos apparently punched the victim in the back of the head. The victim suffered a minor injury. Enos was cited for misdemeanor assault.

According to wit-ness and victim statements, a 19-year-old man, who had some previous problems with Jason Charles Enos, 19, of Winona, was at a party with some friends. Enos apparently pushed through a group of friends and punched the victim in the back of the head. His head hit a wall and he suffered a minor injury and bleeding. Enos was cited this week for misdemeanor as-sault.
(2008/03/27) For Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Winona March 18 9:36 p.m. — A 21-year-old woman reported $80 cash and two bottles of Victoria’s Secret perfume stolen out of her purse in her room in Fingall Hall on West Howard Street. She left the room unlocked for about 15 minutes and found the items missing upon her return. Police are continuing to investigate.

Moore admitted to drinking six beers and was cited for misdemeanor drunken driving. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.09 percent.
