A 21-year-old Winona man died Sunday afternoon when the vehicle he was riding in was struck head-on by a semi, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Justin Breza and his parents, Sonja and James, both 53 and of Winona, were northbound on U.S. Hwy. 61 near Red Wing when a southbound semi lost control and struck the Brezas’ vehicle and that of a Hastings, Minn., couple.

Sonja and James Breza were listed in fair condition Monday, according to a spokesperson at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

The state patrol had not released the conditions of the Hastings couple, Roger Claxton, 58, and Constance Claxton, 72, as of Monday. It was unknown if the semi driver, Roy Becker, 63, of Blaine, Minn., was injured. The Patrol continues to investigate the incident. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor, according to the Patrol.
