The campaign trail will bring Republican candidates for state and federal offices to Winona this week.
Gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer will meet with Winona County Republicans from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The visit to the county Republican Party headquarters in the Winona Mall, 1213 Gilmore Ave., might be the candidate's last visit to the city, wrote Paul Double, county party chairman, in a press release.
"Tom has a lot of places he needs to be this close to an election, so this may be your only shot to meet Tom face to face," Double wrote.
Emmer is running against DFLer Mark Dayton and Independence Party candidate Tom Horner for the governor's seat.
Three other Republican candidates will be in Winona on Thursday morning.
Minnesota Senate candidate Jeremy Miller, Minnesota House of Representative candidate Rhett Zenke and U.S. Congress candidate Randy Demmer will attend a Winona Area Chamber of Commerce Conversations with the Candidates forum at 7:30 a.m. at the chamber office, 902 E. Second St., Suite 120.
Registration for the event is required, and seating is limited. The cost is $5 for a chamber member and includes a continental breakfast. To register, call the chamber at 452-2272.
In November's general election, Miller faces DFL Rep. Sharon Erickson Ropes, Zenke squares off against DFL Rep. Gene Pelowski, and Demmer faces Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Walz and Independence Party candidate Steven Wilson.
The chamber is working to set up another Conversations with the Candidates forum with the DFL candidates, officials said.
