Rep. Steve Drazkowski, R-Mazeppa, has an-nounced he will not run for Rep. Tim Walz's congressional seat and has instead endorsed Mike Parry, a Republican state senator from Waseca.

"He's a man of integrity and character, a good listener and a great leader," said Drazkowski in an interview Wednesday.

Drazkowski said he agrees with Parry's platform, which focuses on economic growth, job creation and education.

"Mike is someone who knows our country is broke and our government is broken," Drazkowski said. "He'll work very hard to put us back on a solid path to prosperity."

Although Drazkowski had no official plans to run for the 1st District seat held by Walz, a Democrat from Mankato, he said he hadn't ruled out the possibility in a September interview.

He said Wednesday that he chose to support Parry rather than run himself because Parry was already committed to running and has developed a strong campaign.
