Plans for a Family Dollar store to open in Rushford are under way, after the Rushford City Council gave the go-ahead to city staff to finalize an agreement with the company.
The new 8,320-square-foot store would be built in the Himlie Business Park on the north end of town.
Family Dollar plans to begin construction in late winter or early spring 2013, depending on weather, and plans to open in late spring.
“The need for a general goods store was identified,” said Rushford city administrator Steve Sarvi. “We’re excited about it.”
Barring substantial changes, the agreement should be finalized by the end of the month.
“There’s still a lot of things they have to do before putting a shovel in the ground,” Sarvi said.
