WINONA — Bette (Fort) Sievers, 88, of Winona passed away at Lake Winona Manor on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.

Bette was one of 12 children and was born on March 1, 1925, to Peter and Margaret (Rossin) Fort on the family farm on Stockton Hill. She met and married Richard Sievers and together they established their family business, Curley’s Floor Shop.

Bette enjoyed working alongside Rich “Curley” in their family business for many years. She was also very active in her church, St. Martin’s Lutheran Church where Bette and Rich sang in the choir. Bette loved music. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Ducks Unlimited. She was active with the Winona swim programs and was always at swim meets, cheering on her children. She loved to golf, bowl and also taking care of her back yard rose garden. She enjoyed going fishing and travelling with her soul mate, Rich.

Bette is survived by sons, Denny Sievers and Jeff Sievers, both of Winona; daughter, Lori (Tim) Smith, Buffalo City, Wis.; grandchildren, Cassie Koscianski (Carlos) Teixeira, Porto Alegre, Brazil, Dylan Koscianski, Scottsdale, Ariz., Tyler Smith (Delicia Lindsay), Buffalo City, and Lucas Smith (Gina Smith), Fountain City, Wis. She also has great-grandchildren, Santiago, Abigail, Elianna, Aydin, Devin and Blaine. She is further survived by her siblings, Peter Fort, St. Charles, Janet Gipe, Sarasota, Fla., Roger Fort, Minnesota City, Susie (Joe) Nienow, Winona, and Jon (Pat) Fort, Winona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Peter and Margaret Fort; and siblings, Violet Erickson, Harold Fort, Ethel Gibbs, Clyde/Bobby Fort, Lorraine Hodgdon-Mentgen and Kenneth Fort.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home and after noon on Friday at the church.

Honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren Cassie, Dylan, Tyler and Lucas.
