Logger was hit by branch, not pinned by a tree
By Daily News staff
.
Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand revised statements he made Friday about a logger injured near Altura, Minn. Melvin Allan Edelbath, 61, of Kellogg, Minn., was knocked unconscious by a falling branch Friday morning, not pinned by a tree as was first reported, he said. Edelbath lost feeling in his arms and legs and was later rescued by authorities after spending nearly six hours alone in the woods.
Brand said the man underwent a six-hour surgery Saturday. Officials are unsure whether Edelbath will remain paralyzed, Brand said.
