David Allen Bergsrud

ALASKA — David Allen Bergsrud, 66, died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1942, in Spring Grove, Minn. He was the fifth of six children born to Walter and Lavern (Bryant) Bergsrud. Dave graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1960. He continued living in Spring Grove until 1964, when he drove his 1956 Pontiac up the Alcon Highway to Alaska, where he was employed at Western Geophysical in Anchorage.
Dave married Gail (Holty) Modjeski in 1968 and had two children. He moved to Nome in the late 1970s, where he partnered Thrasher and Associates. After retiring, he found enjoyment in playing cards and driving for Checker Cab Co. in Nome.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanya (Gerry) Ryan of Trempeleau, Wis., and his son, Shawn (Jennie) Bergsrud of Winona. He has five special granddaughters, Shelby, Shyanne and Shaysie Ryan, and Hailey and Miranda Bergsrud; two sisters, Berthana (JR) Wirth of Spring Grove, and Lucinda Thomas of Four Oaks, N.C.; two brothers, Wesley (Peggy) Bergsrud of Anchorage and Daryel Bergsrud of Anchorage; and all of his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, LaDean Dahle of Hutchinson, Minn.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Spring Grove.

Evan T. Rodeberg, 59, of 407 E. Lake Boulevard, Winona, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at the Intensive Care Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.
Evan was born Jan. 18, 1949, at Montevideo, Minn., to Kenneth and Victoria (Arntzen) Rodeberg.
He graduated from Winona State University in 1979. He was employed by Hormel Corp. in North Carolina for two years prior to returning to Winona.
While attending WSU, Evan worked at Linahan’s. In 1981, he became the owner and operator of the Hei-N-Low Tap on Hamilton. He also owned Calvin’s Saloon on Steuben Street.
Evan was a constant reader.
Evan is survived by a brother, Kern (Mary) Rodeberg of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; nephew, James “Marty” (Judy) Mathis; nieces and nephew, Nicholas, Theodora and Olivia Mathis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michelle Rem of Central Lutheran Church officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Psoriasis Research at the Mayo Clinic.

ALGONA Iowa — Maxine Berte, 78, of Algona died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at her home.

MONDOVI, Wis. — Jane E. Loomis, 60, of Mondovi died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at her home in Mondovi.

Visitation will be held Sunday at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m.

ARCADIA, Wis. — Monica Schildknecht, 89, of Arcadia died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Nursing Home, Arcadia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish. Spring burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
