Arcadia’s school board met with a consulting firm Monday in a special session to discuss strategies for a superintendent candidate search. Jerry Freimark has been interim superintendent since the previous administrator, 52-year-old Jon Turnell, died May 30 after having cancer.
Turnell was hired in 2005 to replace Roger Derrickson, who retired. Freimark is a retired administrator who agreed to fill in until a permanent replacement is found. School board president Jerry Sorenson said Freimark will not be considered because he wanted to hold the position temporarily.
“We are looking for someone with good leadership qualities that needs to be able to move our district forward for the time they are here,” he said.
Sorenson said the board hopes to hire a candidate by the end of March, and have that person start by July 1.
