Douglas Sidie, 39, reported his ex-wife missing about 6 p.m. Nov. 8, telling authorities she had walked out of the home they still shared about 9 p.m. Nov. 7 during an argument.
He told investigators late Saturday the couple — who were divorced but reportedly reconciling — argued in the garage of the Hatfield home they share with their 2-year-old twin boys.
When Alisha Sidie walked outside, he put a handgun in his waistband, confronted her on the sidewalk and shot her once, according to the probable cause statement.
Douglas Sidie then took the body in his pickup truck to a wooded area in the town of Komensky, according to the statement.
It wasn’t until about 8 p.m. Saturday that Douglas Sidie led investigators to the area near the body. A Jackson County sheriff’s bloodhound then led them to the remains.
He is held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.
Douglas Sidie had attacked Alicia Sidie at least once before, according to court records.
They were camping at Wazee Lake on June 4, 2005, when she left for her mother’s house, only to be called back by friends who said her then-fiance had become drunk and obnoxious, according to the complaint filed in Jackson County Circuit Court.
After taking him home, Alisha Sidie threw the keys out the window to prevent him from driving drunk, the complaint reported. Douglas Sidie then pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the head.
The original charge of misdemeanor domestic abuse battery later was reduced to a disorderly conduct citation, to which Douglas Sidie pleaded no contest Jan. 16, 2006. A domestic abuse disorderly conduct charge was dismissed.
He also pleaded no contest in April 1997 in Dane County to a battery charge for punching a man who had grabbed his then-girlfriend at a bar, according to the criminal complaint.
