Narcotics investigators are following leads in the case and searching for the suspect, Deputy Chief Paul Bostrack said.

However, police are not releasing the name or the description of the man, citing an ongoing investigation.
Bostrack said an ambulance was called to the parking lot of Daniels Ace Hardware near the intersection of Second and Huff streets at 2:55 p.m., Saturday on a report of an unresponsive man in the front seat of a vehicle parked in front of a hardware store. The caller reported a strong odor of paint thinner coming from the vehicle as well.
Emergency crews loaded the man into the ambulance, but while apparently stopped for a red light at the intersection of Fourth and Huff streets, the man got out of the ambulance and took off, Bostrack said.
Officers checked out the silver two-door car and found several chemicals commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine in plain sight and more materials in the trunk. A professional clean-up crew was called in from Chicago to dispose of the hazardous materials, Bostrack said. He declined to say what kinds of chemicals were found. He said the car was impounded, and the investigation continues.
