We need more than a 10 percent change.
Millions of jobs have been exported, shamless tax cuts to millionaires (in 2007, $269 billion in tax cuts to the richest but $422 billion was borrowed from foreign and domestic investors to pay its bills), an endless war ($0.52 of each tax dollar goes to the Department of Defense, $720 million per day to the Iraq war), our health care system is broken, (U.S. ranks 37th in health care and 47th in life expectancy).
There are 50 million without health care in the U.S. South Africa and the U.S. are the only developed countries in the world that do not provide health insurance for all their citizens, and we have the highest poverty rate among the developed nations.
Education receives only 6 percent of the pie, environment 3 percent, transportation 2 percent. Our roads and bridges are in disrepair, homelessness is increasing, our standing in the world is at its lowest. Our democracy and Constitution have been slashed.
“Lobbyists and the administration are now asking the taxpayers to bail out the wealthy who are victimizing millions of powerless people and driving the richest country in the world to the edge of bankruptcy,” said Jim Klobuchar, Christian Science Monitor.
Enough is enough. Vote for change, vote for hope and vote for Barack Obama, Al Franken, Tim Walz and Ken Tschumper.
