One person died following a collision between a car and motorcycle Sunday afternoon on Highway 43 in Fillmore County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The person's name, age or gender has not yet been released.
The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. about 10 miles north of the Minnesota-Iowa border. A Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven northbound by Terry D. Fetterly, 53, of Spring Valley, Minn., and a 1998 Mercury Sable being driven south by Aradath M. Johnson, 67, of Mable, Minn., sideswiped each other, the state patrol said. Fillmore County Sheriff Daryl Jensen said the person killed was a passenger on the motorcycle.
According to the state patrol, Fetterly was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries. He is in serious condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, a hospital spokeswoman said. Johnson was not injured.
The cause of the crash was unclear, but State Patrol Sgt. James Boley suspected one of the two vehicles must have been on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash.
