Alvina Mary Diderrich
Dec. 20, 1910 — Sept. 6, 2008

ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Alvina Mary Diderrich, 97, of St. Charles died Saturday evening, Sept. 6, 2008, at Golden Living Center n Whitewater in St. Charles.

Alvina was born Dec. 20, 1910, in Oak Ridge of Winona County to Matthew and Anna (Haines) Frisch. She and Arnold Diderrich were married May 12, 1936, at Oak Ridge. They farmed north of St. Charles, where Alvina was a farm homemaker. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family; trying new recipes, baking, sewing, growing flowers, gardening, canning and quilting. Alvina was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Survivors include two children, Ardena (Don) Feils of Forest Lake, Minn., and David (Dorothy) Diderrich of Pine Island; a son-in-law, William Hynes of Lincoln, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, on Dec. 28, 1998; also by her daughter, Joanne Hynes; and three brothers and one sister.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They also may call one hour before services at the church. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Terry L. Muller

April 25, 1961 — Sept. 8, 2008

Terry Muller, 47, died Sept. 8, 2008, at his home in Winona. He was born April 25, 1961, to Richard and Barbara Muller in La Crosse, Wis. He worked for Fastenal Co. for the past nine years.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara; brothers, Randy (Mary) Muller of Houston, Minn., Troy (Patricia) Muller of Winona; and a sister, Darcy (Ricky) Kjelbertson of Granville, N.D. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews; and a grandmother, Verna Odegaarden of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; paternal grandparents; maternal grandfather; and godson, Zachery Muller.

Memorials may be given to the Winona Chapter of the Red Cross or Make-a-Wish Foundation of Minnesota.

Visitation will be held for Terry on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home.

While Terry was with us, his nonstop energy was always so easy to see. He enjoyed reading, he was creative and a painter. He enjoyed music, spending time with friends and family and we enjoyed his unconditional love and laughter. We will miss you, Terry.

Robert J. Wernecke

Robert J. Wernecke, 87, of Winona died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona.

Bob was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Winona County, the son of William E. and Helen D. (Bork) Wernecke. He was united in marriage with Lorayne (Bunke) Shipstead on Jan. 7, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.

He farmed for many years in the Witoka area, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife Lorayne. He will be remembered for his smile and his great sense of humor and fun.

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winona, the Knights of Columbus, and the Local Farmers Union.

Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Lorayne of Winona; three stepdaughters, Corrine (Ken) Michaels of Rice Lake, Wis., Carolyn (David) Mehlhoff of Fort Pierre, S.D., and Cleone (Ben) Lee of Winona; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a cousin, Milton Wernecke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Chapel of Our Lady at St. Anne Extended Healthcare. The Rev. Robert P. Stamschror will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Leona F. Pritchard

June 30, 1920 — Sept. 8, 2008

Leona F. Pritchard, 88, of Winona died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.

Leona Fern was born June 30, 1920, in Winona to Leonard and Linda (Wilkens) Strelow. Leona was a lifelong resident and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1937. On May 20, 1944, she married Harlon T. Pritchard in Winona, and he preceded her in death June 28, 1995.

Leona was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winona, and volunteered at Sauer Memorial Home and SEMCAC, Winona, and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Sauer Memorial. Leona will always be remembered for her gentle spirit and kind heart.

Leona is survived by four children, William (Candy) Pritchard of Scotts Valley, Calif., Joan (David) Hittner of Winona, Mary (Les) Gilbertson of Winona and Sandra (Gary) Smith of Bemidji, Minn.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allan (Eunice) Strelow of Rochester, Minn., and Donald (Arlene) Strelow of Rochester; a sister, Doris Woodward of Goodview; sisters-in-law, Verna Purdom of Appleton, Wis., Norma Strelow of Rochester, Florence Strelow of Winona, Vivian (Don) Root of Decorah, Iowa, Dorothy (Ernie) Sines of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Gordon (Nicci) Pritchard of Mary Esther, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Wilmer, Robert and Earl Strelow.

Services to remember Leona will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with the Rev. Richard A. Moore of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winona, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.

Family will greet friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, and Friday beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Sauer Memorial Home Auxiliary or St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Arnold P. Jacob

Aug. 22, 1916 — Sept. 9, 2008

Arnold P. Jacob, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona. Arnold was born Aug. 22, 1916, on the farm in Nodine, Minn., to Fred and Minnie (Tuschling) Jacob. On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Beatrice Winsky in Nodine. Arnold farmed until 1976 and then moved to Winona due to ill health in 1980. Arnold was a member of Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church. Arnold is remembered for his love for fishing, reading and playing cards.

His survived by his four daughters, Arlene (Adrian) Roraff Jr. of Winona, Dorothy Woods of West Concord, Minn., Joyce (Robert) Baumgartner of La Crescent, Minn., and Kristi Jacob of Winona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice; two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodview, with the Rev. Tony Hansen officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nodine.

Friends may call at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel today from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.

Alvin H. Ellinghuysen

Alvin H. Ellinghuysen, 82, of rural Winona died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at his daughter’s home in rural Wabasha.

Hoff Funeral Home of Lewiston is assisting the family.

Herman H. Rebarchek

INDEPENDENCE, Wis. — Herman H. Rebarchek, 81, of Independence died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Burial, with military rites, will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m.Thursday.
