ALMA, Wis. — Donald Maassen, 90, of Alma died Sunday, Sept. 7, at Pepin Manor.

He was born Nov. 5, 1917, in the town of Alma, a son of the late Claus and Marie (Witwen) Maassen.

On Dec. 30, 1943, Donald was united in marriage to Evelyn Glanzman at Canton Lutheran Parsonage, town of Canton, Buffalo County, Wis., by Pastor Walter Huebner.

In 1996, they sold their residence in Buffalo City and moved to the River Edge Apartments in Alma. Donald became a resident of Pepin Manor on

April 6, 2006, where he has resided ever since.

Donald was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church of Alma.

Donald will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn of Alma; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Arnold and Arlene Allbee, both of Faulkton, S.D., and Elaine (Alan) Thelen of Lakewood, Colo.; also by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and special aunt, Lorene Kennedy.

Funeral services for Donald will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma, with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating. Burial will take place at Nelson Cemetery.

A time of visitation and support will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel, and again Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Online memories and condolences may be sent to www.talbot-poeschel.com.
