WSU women’s volleyball team receives academic award

The Winona State University women’s volleyball team was recognized for academic excellence by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

WSU is one of only 39 NCAA Division II universities to earn the Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 season. The award honors university teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. The WSU volleyball team maintained a cumulative 3.41 GPA.
The 2007-2008 team roster includes: Kelly Thompson, Waunakee, Wis.; Carmen Stankowski, Mosinee, Wis.; Alysha Pettit, Burnsville, Minn.; Krista Bogue, Canton, S.D.; Lauren Brown, Madison, Wis.; Rudi Balich, Chicago; Katie Matel, Greendale, Wis.; Lisa Dobie, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Jenna Padley, Lodi, Wis.; Kelsey Penebaker, Milwaukee; Kiersten Arendt, Mazeppa, Minn.; Kerry Daly, Woodbury, Minn.; Mollie Bjelland, Grantsburg, Wis.; and Crystal Otte, Fremont, Wis.
