That continued Saturday as WSU fell to Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) 3-2 (15-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-12) and Lewis (Ill.) 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 26-24).
“We’re tired and beat up a little,” Warriors coach Connie Mettille said. “But we still have to find a way to win these five-gamers.”
Of WSU’s eight matches, four of them have went five games.
“We’re just not playing great ball right now,” said Mettille, whose team dropped to 1-7. “We need to get in the gym, figure out our responsibilities and what we need to work on and get it done.”
Against Saginaw State, Mollie Bjelland had 47 assists, Shannon McGowan had 22 digs and Jenna Padley, Kerry Daly and Jessi Peterson had 10 kills apiece for the Warriors.
