Football roundup: Agrimson twins carry R-P

WABASHA, Minn. — Mark and Matt Agrimson, twin brothers on Rushford-Peterson High School’s football team, each rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-26 nonconference victory over Wabasha-Kellogg.

Mark rushed for 170 yards on 19 carries and scored on runs of six and 67 yards, both in the first quarter. Matt rushed for 103 yards on 13 carries and scored on runs of one and 14 yards.
Cody Frick scored on a 48-yard run and 63-yard punt return for R-P in the second quarter and finished with three carries for 59 yards.

The Trojans rushed for 372 yards out of 429 total yards. The Falcons took a different approach in the high-scoring contest.

W-K quarterback Jordan Dick passed for 356 yards and four touchdowns. Dick finished 17 of 31 with an interception.

Dick and Zach Wolfe connected on touchdown passes of 80 and 58 yards.

Lewiston-Altura 21, Fillmore Central 14

LEWISTON, Minn. — Brad Hammann did most of the damage for Lewiston-Altura, carrying 17 times for 87 yards and scoring all three touchdowns.

The Cardinals spotted Fillmore Central 14 points in the first quarter.

Jordan Jarland scored from 14 out and Nate Jensen added a 3-yard score for the Falcons.

L-A bounced back in the second quarter with two Hammann short runs.

Hammann scored the game-winner with 5:12 left in the game on a 5-yard run.

L-A, which did fumble five times, but recovered three of them, rushed for 199 yards and held Fillmore to 78.

C-FC 43, New Auburn 0

NEW AUBURN, Wis. — Kevin Weis scored four touchdowns, carrying the ball nine times for 134 yards in leading Cochrane-Fountain City.

Weis’ scores included rushes from 17 and 53 yards out. He also returned a punt 47 yards for a touchdown.

Teammate Sam White had a 52-yard score of his own, and Jesse Scheel hauled in a 20-yard touchdown from Karl Hoffman.

C-FC racked up 288 yards rushing, and held New Auburn to 129 yards on 24 carries.

I/G 18, Elk Mound 13

INDEPENDENCE, Wis. — Marty Guza scored on a 47-yard touchdown run with 2:10 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift Independence/Gilmanton from a 13-12 deficit for its first win.

Guza finished with 195 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, scoring on runs of 50 and 47 yards. Guza also led the Indees (1-1) with 10 1/2 tackles.

I/G’s Nick Smieja caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Nekoosa 29, Whitehall 6

WHITEHALL, Wis. — Chase Coyer had four rushing touchdowns, one in each quarter, to lead Nekoosa.

Kevin Berg had a 25-yard touchdown for Whitehall.

Houston 47, Lanesboro 6


HOUSTON, Minn. — The Hurricanes dominated from start to finish, racking up 528 yards of offense and averaging over 10 yards per carry.

Kevin Lindh had eight carries for 176 yards and two touchdowns and Trent Kerrigan had nine carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Houston accumulated 458 yards on the ground.

Brett Hungerholt hooked up with Brayden Heybl for a 51-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for Lanesboro’s only score.

M-C 48, Spring Grove 22

MABEL, Minn. — Mabel-Canton’s Dalton Stoen rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries.

The Cougars opened a 36-6 halftime lead behind Stoen’s three first-half rushing touchdowns. M-C’s Sam Storlie returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown.

Spring Grove quarterback Colin Kurk rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another. Kurk finished 9-for-17 for 97 yards and scored on runs of 25 and 19 yards in the third quarter.

Lions senior Chris Connelly rushed for 72 yards on 12 carries and caught a Kurk pass for a two-point conversion.
