Area Prep Roundup: W-K’s Leisen registers milestone assist, victory over R-P

WABASHA, Minn. — Wabasha-Kellogg High School senior setter Megan Leisen recorded her 1,000th career assist Thursday in leading the Falcons to a 3-0 Three Rivers Conference win over Rushford-Peterson.

Leisen had 17 assists in the win. Nicole Peters had 13 kills and Kate Speedling added eight kills for the undefeated Falcons (7-0, 2-0).
Jade Pelzl had 11 assists, Kenzie Lind added five kills and Kaylee Helgemoe had six digs and two blocks for the Trojans (8-3, 0-1).

St. Charles 3, Fillmore Central 1

PRESTON, Minn. — Shelby Storsveen had 17 kills and four blocks for St. Charles.

Brianna Ihrke had 28 assists for the Saints, Brianna Brinkman had eight kills and Katie Schultz had 16 digs for the Saints, who lost the first game 26-24.

The Falcons got seven kills and two aces from Leah Dols and 15 assists, five kills and two blocks from Alex Peterson.

Southeast

LeRoy-Ostrander 3, Houston 1

LEROY, Minn. — Meredith Lee had 14 kills and Astri Runningen added nine kills and five blocks for Houston, which won the first game 26-24.

Kaylee Bunne had 17 kills for the Cardinals.

Mabel-Canton 3, Hope Lutheran 0

Kate Horihan had 11 kills, Kayla O’Bieglo added 21 assists and Lindsay Anderson had seven kills for M-C.

Hope Lutheran’s Angie Wenzel had two aces.

Lanesboro 3, Spring Grove 2

LANESBORO, Minn. — Dana Sautter had 34 assists, Lexi Hall had 11 kills and Jordan Darling had nine kills to lead the Burros.

Brooke Johnson and Katelyn Bjerke had nine kills apiece and Eva Gleason had 14 assists for Spring Grove.

Goodhue 3, La Crescent 0

LA CRESCENT, Minn. — Laura Watson had seven kills to lead Goodhue, while Kristin Vesel had four kills and four assists for La Crescent.

Pepin 3, Alma 1

ALMA, Wis. — Maggie Grisen had 11 kills and Brandi Spriggle added 10 assists for Alma.

Caledonia 8, St. Charles 1

CALEDONIA, Minn. — Kayla McCormick scored her first three goals of the season — all in the first half — to lead Caledonia to a Three Rivers Conference victory.

Caledonia’s Rachel Strub scored twice in the second half, while goalkeepers Kalli Konkel Arie Albert and Bridget Macomber combined for four saves.

Taige Thorson scored in the 20th minute to pull St. Charles within 2-1, but the Warriors opened a 5-1 halftime lead.

Boys soccer

West Salem 3, La Crescent 1

WEST SALEM, Wis. — Brandon Guzman scored the only goal for the Lancers, who dropped their fifth consecutive game to open the season.

Evan Friedl added an assist for the Lancers.

Girls Golf

Coulee Meet

ETTRICK, Wis. — Arcadia/Cochrane-Fountain City took the meet with a 189, while Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau was second with a 195.

Annette Foegen was the medalist for A/C-FC, shooting a 42 at the par 36 course.
