SMU women’s golf team finishes 19th at Eau Claire invite

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The Saint Mary’s University women’s golf team finished 19th Sunday at the UW-Eau Claire Fall Invite after the final round at Mill Run Golf Course.

Cardinals junior Katelyn Rizzi shot 177 (86-91) for SMU’s low round. Freshman Gia Puch shot 185 (92-93) and junior Brittney Nielsen 192 (92-100) at the 25-team invite. SMU shot 757.
The two-day invite played tough with no golfers shooting better than 4-over-par for either round. Wartburg (Iowa) junior Steph Burns won the invite with a 12-over 157 (79-78). Gustavus edged Wartburg by one stroke, with a 66-over-par 646, for the team title.
