Gary D. Huntbatch
Dec. 29, 1943 — Aug. 25, 2008

Gary D. Huntbatch, 64, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona. Gary was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Hampton, Iowa, to Edward and Zella (Rucker) Huntbatch. He married Kay Hall on Oct. 1, 1966, in Crystal Lake, Ill. Gary had worked in Minneapolis for Land of Lakes Creamery Inc. and had worked as an assistant traffic manager.

In Winona, he had worked at Hiawatha Produce and Kujak Trucking, where he was a general manager, owned and operated his own trucking company, CRX Trucking, and most recently had been working for Land America as a tax researcher.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winona and the Elks Club in Goodview. Gary was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, who loved spending time with his grandchildren, having cook outs and taking trips up north.

Gary is survived by his wife, Kay; son, John (Janelle) of Ely, Minn.; daughter, Andrea (Rob) Monk of Minnesota City, Minn.; grandchildren, Jordan and Jace Huntbatch and Lleyton and Logan Monk. He was preceded in death by parents and an infant sister.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel. The Rev. Larry Green will officiate. Burial will be Saturday, Aug. 30, in Lindenwood Cemetery in Geneva, Iowa.

Friends may call today at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. The Winona Elks Club will have a memorial service for Gary at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clayton ‘Scotty’ Zimmerman

March 13, 1926 — Aug. 26, 2008

ALTURA, Minn. — Clayton “Scotty” Zimmerman, 82, of Altura died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, of congestive heart failure at St. Isidore Health Care Center, Plainview. He was born March 13, 1926, in Dover, Minn. He married Goldie Dykes Aug. 2, 1948, in Decorah, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie Zimmerman of Altura; children, Bob (Luckie) Zimmerman of Ramah, Colo., Travis Himlie of Fountain, Colo., and Kathy (Mike) Klagge of Elgin, Minn.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Bye of Oakdale, Calif. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Born and raised in Dover, Minn., Scotty served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Germany from 1944-47. He and his wife, Goldie, lived in northern Minnesota, St. Charles, Dover, Weaver and finally settled in Altura.

Scotty was a heavy equipment operator most of his life, with a long membership in the local 49ers union. He loved to hunt, fish, trap or be outside in his garden.

He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Trapper Association of Minnesota.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Schad and Zabel Funeral Home, Plainview, for a time of remembrance and visitation. A flag presentation by the Plainview American Legion will be at 7 p.m.

Leslie J. Burch Jr.

Leslie J. Burch Jr., 77, of Winona died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Sauer Memorial Home. Private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Services entrusted to Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Teresa Rose Francisco Hegge

SPRING GROVE, Minn. — Teresa Rose Francisco Hegge, 45, of Spring Grove died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at her home.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.

Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is in charge of arrangements.
