The conference’s theme, “The Prairie Meets the River,” emphasizes the water’s importance in the prairie environment. The Mississippi River is used to show examples of different types of prairie.
Attendees will take guided tours of the Mississippi River aboard the WSU River Explorer with river expert Cal Fremling, and take field trips highlighting local features such as the Garvin Heights Savannah Restoration, endangered birds in Great River Bluffs State Park, Effigy Mounds National Monument and Pork and Plants: Alternative Energy Solutions in Elba.
The conference features opening remarks from WSU President Judith Ramaley as well as presentations from more than 80 contributors.
