We’ve been patient as the wealthiest Americans get richer with huge tax-cuts. And we’ve watched as big corporations move off-shore to avoid paying any taxes whatsoever, while we barely get by.
It’s about time those of us who are hardworking, middle-class taxpayers got a break. That’s why I was delighted to see the guest column by our congressman, Tim Walz, about the bill he is introducing in Congress called the Middle Class Tax Fairness Act.
Rep. Walz’s bill will close tax loopholes for big corporations and cut government waste and will use those savings to give us tax relief — an average $750 each to millions of middle-class taxpayers this year alone. At the same time, it will help pay down nearly $21 billion of our national debt.
A recent letter writer on this page complained about Walz, saying, “This is our country, and it’s time to take it back from all the special interest groups.”
I couldn’t agree more.
That writer was obviously confused, because Walz has tirelessly worked for our benefit and has courageously opposed big special interests—unlike his opponent, a millionaire doctor who favors the rich and privileged.
I can tell when a guy is on my side, and Tim Walz is the real deal.
It’s about time we had a champion of average Americans fighting for us in Congress.
