“No, Ethan. That’s a fire truck,” Scott Tober said.
The Tobers, including Ethan, Scott and mom Nicolle, sat on the curb Friday morning at the 2008 Goodview Days Kiddie Parade. With them were friends Benna Wells, 2, and mom Betsy, who moved to Goodview on Friday.
Several costumed day care groups — dressed as pirates, bees, lions and ladybugs — handed out candy to the kids lining Fifth Street.
The newly crowned Miss Goodview, Christine Klug, and her attendants rode a float in their first official act as royalty. The former royalty dressed in bee costumes, buzzing around Randy Taylor, the Goodview Activity Group president.
“(My favorite part is) candy,” Ethan said, as he licked an orange sucker.
Benna enjoyed her sucker as well. With handfuls of Smarties, Tootsie Rolls and other treats between the two toddlers, it was a good thing one of the prizes was a toothbrush, said Nicolle.
“I enjoyed watching the kids get excited about the fire trucks and clowns,” she said.
The parade was the second event on the first full day of Goodview Days.
The Tobers and the Wells both plan to attend the Grand Parade on Sunday.
Medallion found
Megan Weilandt, 9, her brother Zach, 5, and their mom, Mandy, found the 32nd annual Goodview Days Medallion Friday evening. After following clues all week, they were right around the corner from the medallion’s hidden location when the final clue was announced. “We beat someone by five seconds,” Megan said. The discovery of the medallion is an annual tradition to mark the kickoff of Goodview Days. Officials provide clues to the community, and whoever finds the medallion wins a prize.
