Christina Anne Wevley faces six felony controlled substance sales charges and two gross misdemeanor counts of child endangerment. She faces up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine if convicted of one of the felonies.
According to the criminal complaint, she sold about 17.8 grams of marijuana to a police informant between April and May from her apartment in the 1750 block of Kraemer Drive. On at least two occasions, her young children were present, court documents show. A search of her apartment turned up several bags containing 62.05 grams of marijuana, two digital scales and a glass pipe, according to the complaint.
Winona County Attorney Chuck MacLean said the sales were not a “one-time aberration” but were part of an “ongoing business.”
Wevley’s bail was set at $20,000 without conditions, but because she showed up voluntarily for court on a summons with an attorney, she was released on her own recognizance with conditions she not possess or use controlled substances and that she make all future court appearances. Her next hearing was set for Oct. 22.
Sex assault
Justin Glen Dahl, 19, of Winona was in court for an evidentiary hearing regarding charges he had sex with a
15-year-old girl on multiple occasions in February.
His public defender, Kurt Knuesel, said he didn’t get the evidence from the county attorney’s office until shortly before the hearing because of a miscommunication. He asked the court to grant a continuance of the hearing, which was reset for Sept. 8.
According to the criminal complaint, Dahl was 18 when he had sex with the teen at least twice between Feb. 14 and Feb. 25. He admitted he knew the girl was only 15 at the time, court documents show.
Dahl is currently serving a six-month sentence in the Winona County Jail for a burglary he committed in June 2007 in Goodview.
DWI
Wallace Richard Flaten Jr., 42, of Stockton pleaded guilty Thursday to gross misdemeanor drunken driving and was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Flaten must also pay a $400 fine and complete two years of probation for his third DWI in the past 10 years.
He admitted consuming “quite a bit of alcohol” in the early morning hours of July 25 before getting into his
car. According to police, he pulled out of the Stockton Saloon onto Highway 14 about 2:10 a.m. and an approaching deputy had to slam on the brakes to avoid
a collision. Flaten admitted that was enough probable cause for the officer to pull him over.
Flaten was arrested and submitted a breath test at the jail that found his blood-alcohol concentration was 0.20 percent.
Once Flaten completes his jail sentence, he will likely be sent to Scott County, where probation violation charges are pending. He was convicted there of drunken driving in August 2007.
