Story by Kevin Behr / Winona Daily News

A woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday when her car crossed two lanes of traffic, went airborne and rolled in a ditch on Highway 61 near Lamoille, Minn.

Kirsten Elizabeth Spies, 36, was loaded into a Winona ambulance on a backboard and taken to Community Memorial Hospital shortly after 1 p.m.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, she had nonlife-threatening injuries.

Jeff Williams of La Crescent, Minn., was going north on Highway 61 when he saw the crash near the intersection of the highway and Little Cedar Road about a mile north of Lamoille.

He said Spies was also heading north when he saw her car crossed the median and both southbound lanes into a shallow ditch. She didn’t slow down or hit the brakes, Williams said.

She then clipped a stop sign and catapulted over Little Cedar Road, flying 20 to 30 feet in the air before landing in the opposite ditch and rolling at least once, he said.

Williams said he pulled over on his motorcycle and called 911. When he got to Spies’ 1991 Buick Park

Avenue, he said she was unconscious, still in her seat belt.

Spies was trapped in the upside-down car for a short time, according to radio communications. She was conscious and moving her arms as she was loaded into the ambulance.

The Winona County Sheriff’s Department, the State Patrol and the Pickwick Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the crash.

Authorities did not say exactly what injuries Spies suffered or if she was still in the hospital.

" You read my comments, and you understood them. So what is the point in waqsting my time correcting them? thoose of you that have no clue should stay in the dark. Talk about sounding like an IDIOT. Read some more about others and form more lame opinions. It seems to make you all happy. Or you could take care of you're own backyard and then we would all be in a better place. Life is hard enough without people like YOU pointing fingers. "

" Youareperfect: I would recommend checking your grammar and spelling before going on a rant like that. It makes you look even more like an idiot. "

" youareperfect - wow... you might be the most insane person to ever write on these boards. I wish I had something to say about this article just to hear some more crazy rambling........ Thank God no innocent puppies were harmed in this accident.....GO! "

" Nothing left to say???????????? You have the details. So what is the question?????????? You know only what you think. And you apparently do not do enough of that. (Thinking is what I am refering to). "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 8:34 PM:

" You need to find out the truth before you speculate. Possibly, and Maybe are tools to make the uninformed feel better. You think you have DETAILS, Why are you hiding them?? Threats of such caliber should never be suppressed. I think everyone involved was unaware that you were an eye witness to it all.
If that were the case, Why not say so then?????????????? OR WERE YOU DRIVING?????????? "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 8:20 PM:

" If you truely knew the details, you would not have this much to say. OH, I forgot you were ther weren't you??? I have to go with NO on that one sunshine. Let the past be the past, or it will c0ome back to haunt you!!! Promise "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 8:13 PM:

" You are nothing but a "hate monger". It has to be someones fault, As long as it is not mine,Or anyone associated with me. You are PERFECT!!!Is this not the way you think? Surely I am the perfect individual that can do no wrong. How does it feel to be saddled with such a burden? "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 7:59 PM:

" Sounds to me like you have been in the very same situation. What was you're response?? Did you hit the breaks? You might want to now!!! You seem to make this a grudge matter. It was an accident and a tradedy. Everyone involved has and will suffer for the rest of there lives. You choose to blame. Hope you sleep better thinking it was someone else, and not you're daughter that was resposible. "

rivergal wrote on Aug 14, 2008 7:21 PM:

" Sorry if I offended anyone with my first comment, it was just concerning that there was no attempt to slow or brake. It could have all been very tragic since she crossed both lanes of oncoming traffic or had her children in the car. "

rivergal wrote on Aug 14, 2008 7:18 PM:

" whoa..settle down there, I was simply saying I'm glad she didn't get killed. Possibly she fell asleep driving the other day, you might want to see someone about your temper. Furthermore, those killed were not family/friends of mine, I just know the details, so I am not "at loss". "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 4:39 PM:

" You pretend to be grieving...When it sounds to me that you simply looking for someone to blame. I guess we all have a way to put the blame on anyone, as logn as it is not ourselves. You are simp[ly bitter, and will never come to terms with a loss. Sad as it is, It happens. You are not the only one to experiance a loss. Why do you feel so special??????? "

youareperfect wrote on Aug 14, 2008 4:30 PM:

" Must be nice to sit in youre glass house and never get hit by a stone. under the influence? To me you sound like you are under the influence. The influence of lack of reason. How dare you feel so supirior as to put blame upon another for something in witch you had no part of? Do you you know what happend? NO!!!!!! Do you know why?...NO!!! "

" several years ago a carload of teenage girls were all killed at the Dresbach lock and dam intersection as well as her husband. The couple's vehicle pulled out in front of the girls' car. I'm very glad for her family that she didn't get seriously injured or killed this time around. "

rivergal wrote on Aug 13, 2008 11:41 PM:

" wow, talk about 9 lives! at least she didn't take out a car full of innocent teens THIS time.. I pray that she was not under the influence. "
