Erickson takes early lead in Around the County

ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Zach Erickson shot a 3-over-par 73 on Monday to grab a one-stroke lead after the first day of the Around the County junior golf tournament.

Erickson shot 36 on the front and 37 on the back nine at St. Charles Golf Club, a
par 70 course.

William Leaf had a opening round of 74, while Matt Beyerstedt and Justin Ewert shots 75s and Jason Edstrom a 77 to round out the top five.

Leaf, 13, won the 16-18 year old division at the Winona Area Junior Golf Championship.

Frank Wychgram is in sixth place after shooting 79, the only other round in the 70s.

The five-day tournament features 19 players and continues today at Lewiston Country Club.

The third round is set for Wednesday at Westfield Golf Club, the fourth round Thursday at Cedar Valley Golf Course and the final round Friday at The Bridges Golf Club.
