Jacqueline Gabor, 46, was recovering Saturday morning at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, where she was taken Friday night with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.37 percent. Authorities feared she was so drunk, her health was at risk.
According to the complaint, deputies were called to a rural St. Charles residence at 8:34 p.m. Friday by a man who wanted Gabor removed from his residence, according to a department report. She fled the house to a nearby cornfield by the time deputies arrived, however, and they were unable to find her.
About an hour later, the same man called 911, saying Gabor was back. This time, deputies found Gabor and arrested her for interfering with a 911 call because she had tried to prevent the man from calling police.
While deputies gathered information, Gabor repeatedly asked them for “another beer.” When they declined, she began to struggle with one of the deputies. She was eventually subdued, handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car.
Moments later, Gabor wiggled from the handcuffs, escaped the vehicle and fled again to a cornfield, said Rob Averbeck, a sheriff’s department investigator. Averbeck said he wasn’t sure how she’d escaped from the vehicle, since police cars normally lock from the outside.
Deputies apprehended Gabor about 15 minutes later and took her to the hospital. She could face charges this week of interfering with a 911 call, obstructing the legal process and escape from custody, Averbeck said.
