HOLMEN, Wis. — Brady Strangstalien fired a blistering 3-under-par 69 to easily win the Three Rivers Golf Association Castle Mound Open at Drugan’s Castle Mound Country Clubon Sunday.
It was the first TRGA victory of Strangstalien’s brief career. He entered one event last year before notching a career-best 69 at Castle Mound on Sunday, his second TRGA event of 2008.
The 20-year-old Strang-stalien won the Men’s Championship Flight by three strokes over Winona State University teammates Keegan Drugan of Holmen, and Johnathon Anderson of Ettrick, Wis. Ironically, Drugan, Anderson and Strangstalien were in the same threesome.
“The greens were really rolling well,” said Strangstalien, a junior at Winona State. “I putted really well and made four or five from 15 feet for birdies.”
Strangstalien also used an eagle on the short, 303-yard, 12th hole.
He drove to the front of the green and then chipped in from 30 feet.
Meanwhile, Terry Thomas of La Crosse shot a season-low 78 for top honors in the Women’s Championship Flight. It was her second victory of the season.
