Police say motorcycle chase hit 130 mph

.
A Holmen, Wis., man was charged with felony attempt to flee a police officer after he reportedly tried to elude police on his motorcycle at speeds as high as 130 mph.

Justin R.E. Mommaerts, 22, was arrested June 22 after a 15-mile chase on Wisconsin roads that started on Highway 25 south of Durand and ended in Pepin, according to police reports.
Buffalo County Sheriff’s Investigator Lee Engfer said the chase began around noon after he tried to stop Mommaerts for speeding on Highway 25 in Maxville.

Mommaerts tried to get away and topped out at over 120 mph when chased south on Highway 25, Engfer said.

At the junction of 25 and State Highway 35 just north of Nelson, Engfer said Mommaerts turned north on 35 and speeded up again.

Engfer punched his police cruiser up to 130 mph but was still losing ground. He guessed Mommaerts might have reached speeds close to 150 mph.

When approaching Pepin, Wis., on Highway 35, Mommaerts slowed and eventually pulled over and stopped on Dunn Street in Pepin, Engfer said.

Mommaerts was in circuit court in Alma on June 25 when a $1,000 signature bond was ordered, and he waived the time limit for having a preliminary hearing.

Buffalo County Circuit Court Judge James Duvall continued the case to July 23.

" I know just what ya mean hog line! Used to ride, but now I like "spooken the spokes". You know, drift a little into oncoming biker's lanes with the old truck, toss a cold one, just as they pass, or (the best one) wait until those hog heads get up to the intersection, and dart out in front of em' MAN the laughter never stops! They git all big an bug eyed, start laying an 1/8 of mile of hard black rubber! Dang, it don't git no better then that! Just hope none of those deputy dawgs ever catches me, cause your right on brother, I want to be free to enjoy my truck, my road and my right to determine how I drive. Keep yer rubber down, yer head up, an eye out for me and don't become "Eats the hog line" "

" Yes, EO hogline, you are a criminal. In a civil society, we can not pick and choose the laws we want to obey. Claiming 'free society' as an excuse to break laws would allow murders pedophiles and rapists to go free as well since they should have the right to commit crime in a free society. You must either be joking or suffering from severe Megalomania. "

" I like to drive 100 mph + on a regular basis on my bike, big deal. I've been doing it since about 1990. Does that make me a criminal? Should I lose my license, my job and everything just because I like to open it up once in a while? Yeah, real democracy. I feel so free. "

" wow, roscoe must be proud to catch a speeder? Who cares? The speed limits are only there and enforced so that we, the people, supposedly in a free democracy, can be further taxed and penalized by the judicial system. It's a joke. This guy will get more than the beer can rapists in Winona and speeding is no real crime. The cops are getting ridiculous with this stuff. I miss the good cops we used to have that just took care of buisness with real problems instead of creating work for themselves just to get an attaboy!! "
