Mary K. Benz of Campbellsport has pleaded not guilty to felony physical abuse of a child and three counts of misdemeanor obstructing an officer.
The 49-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
She was bound over for trial Tuesday after a two-day preliminary hearing. In the hearing, a pediatrician testified the child suffered vaginal injuries that were the result of force and intent.
Authorities say the child was assaulted on June 26, 2007 at Our Lady of the Lakes Child Care Center in Random Lake.
District Attorney Joe DeCecco says she won’t face sexual assault charges because there’s no way to prove the assault was sexually motivated.
