The series aims to teach drawing “as a verb,” a process of actively seeing, choosing and creating. The exercises develop observation and drawing skills for accurately drawing prairie and river plants and landscapes.
The first workshop, “Drawing Closer to the Prairie,” will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 1 and from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
The second workshop, “Drawing Along the River,” will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 3 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 4.
The workshops are led by Vera Ming Wong, instructor and co-founder of the Botanical and Zoological Art and Illustration Program at Como Conservatory Zoo, and Mary Coughlan, WSU assistant professor of art. The cost for each workshop is $125.
The workshops are held in conjunction with the Project Art for Nature Exhibition at WSU and the Winona Arts Center.
