Friday

6:40 p.m. — A deputy westbound on Broadway in Winona recognized John Paul Mercier, 30, of Goodview headed the other way. The deputy knew a warrant was out for Mercier’s arrest and U-turned to pull him over. Mercier stopped after the deputy threatened to release a K9 unit after him. Mercier was arrested and transferred to the Goodhue County Jail on a felony drug possession warrant and was referred to the Winona County Attorney’s Office for charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle and on foot and for running a stop sign.

Saturday

5:28 p.m. — The Winona County Water Patrol stopped a boat on the Mississippi River near Lock and Dam 5A because a registration sticker was not placed on the boat properly.
