Pitchers dominate Winona State baseball signings

Winona State University baseball coach Kyle Poock has announced that seven players have signed to play for the Warriors.

Five of the seven players are pitchers, including Evan Aber, a left-hander from Bloomington, Minn.

Aber is the brother of former WSU quarterback Drew Aber and also will play football for the Warriors.

Also signing was Tony Mueller, a pitcher/outfielder from La Crosse Logan High School, as well as pitcher/first baseman Zach Rickaway from La Crosse Aquinas.

The other four players are Cole Brocker, a pitcher/outfielder from Kimberly, Wis.; Tyler Payne, a pitcher from Gays Mills, Wis.; Zach Carpenter, an outfielder from Cyrsyal Lake, Ill.; and Andy Fagely, a pitcher from Mahtomedi, Minn.

“We have filled our need to replace five senior pitchers who completed their eligibility,” Poock said. “This is a very athletic group of young men. Several can possibly have a chance to be two-way players for the Warriors in the future.”
