Despite Jacquart’s 2-for-3 performance with two home runs and three RBIs, the Buddies lost their season-opener to the Rochester Knights 6-4 on Thursday.
The Buddies led 2-1 after three innings before the Knights (1-2, 1-2) pulled ahead with five runs over the next three innings.
Lance Jensen started for the Buddies and had six strikeouts in four innings in a no-decision. Kyle Kowalewski struck out one over two innings in relief and was charged with the loss.
Logan Hemker went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Jake Filand went 2-for-4 with a double, but the Buddies left 13 runners on base and committed two errors.
“It was your basic first game,” Buddies coach Matt O’Brien said. “We made some mistakes and they kind of came back to haunt us.”
