LEWISTON, Minn. — Edgar P. Dorn, 86, of Lewiston died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Lewiston Villa Nursing Home in Lewiston.
Edgar was born May 22, 1922, on his family farm in rural Lewiston to August and Amanda (Kastner) Dorn. He graduated from Lewiston High School. On Feb. 3, 1951, Edgar married Doris Loushin at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Winona. The couple farmed on the Dorn family farm north of Lewiston. In 1979, they moved to Lewiston, where he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston and was very active in the church.
He is survived by four daughters, Shirley (Dave) Adank of Bluff Siding, Wis., Sue (Jeff) Gensmer of Stewartville, Sandra Parsons (Richard Klindworth) of La Crosse, Wis., and Sheila (Joe) Searcy of St. Charles; six grandchildren, Melissa, Michelle and Molly Adank, Paul and Stephen Gensmer, and Kylie Searcy; a great-grandchild; a sister, Selma Arsnow of Lewiston; and a brother, Raymond (Marcella) Dorn of Lewiston.
Edgar was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; three sisters, Irma Laubenstein, Alma Mertens, and Nora Nelson; and a brother, Alvin.
The funeral service for Edgar will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, with the Revs. David A. Fischer and Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery after the service Monday.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Eleanor Mary Haines

ARCADIA, Wis. — Eleanor Mary Haines, 89, of Arcadia died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Lake Winona Manor, Winona.
She was born March 11, 1919, in Arcadia to Louis and Hatty (Motszko) Breska. On June 1, 1942, Eleanor married Eugene Haines. He died April 10, 1985.
Eleanor farmed with Eugene her entire life. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society.
She is survived by four children, Roger (Noreen) Haines and Gene Haines, both of Arcadia, Mary (Michael) Gorham of Minnetonka, Minn., and Steven Haines of Arcadia; seven grandchildren, Brenda (Alex Hummel) Haines, Jason (Jamie) Haines, Jennifer (Dan) McElroy, Michelle (Scott) Anderson, Maria and Melanie Gorham, and Rebekah (Joe) Krueger; and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Amber and Alex Haines.
Preceding Eleanor in death were her parents; husband; sister, Loretta McAllister; and brothers, Ralph, Roman and Clifford Breska.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Holy Family Parish, with Father Michael Klos officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
Memorials are preferred to “Family Wishes.“
Eleanor will be remembered for her love and kindness to her family, her wonderful culinary skills and love of her lawn and garden. We will never forget the memories of her generosity and compassion to all of us. We all love her and will miss her very much.

BROWNSVILLE, Minn. — Dale W. Richards, 77, of rural Brownsville died Friday, June 6, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 7, 1931, in Houston County, the son of William and Louise (Elsheimer) Richards. He attended school in Reno, Minn., and New Albin, Iowa.
He furthered his education in the service by taking courses in agriculture. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea in 1954-55. Dale married Fern Thillen on Sept. 14, 1957, in Caledonia, Minn. He farmed near Brownsville and also near Mabel, Minn. He was a hard worker and a good manager; he thoroughly enjoyed farming and raising Angus cattle with the help of his wife, Fern. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fern; his daughter, Dawn Richards of Brownsville; son, Dean (Teri) Richards of St. Charles, Minn.; three granddaughters, Debbie, Sarah and Katie Richards; a brother, Virgil (Sandra) Richards of Piedmont, S.D.; two sisters, Lois Shelton of New Carrolton, Md., and Virginia (Donald) Pavek of Janesville, Wis.; and other extended family members. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Shelton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father James McCauley will officiate, and burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brownsville.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Breza Hall, next to St. Patrick’s Church, where a rosary will be said at 3 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be at 5 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the hall Monday.

WHITEHALL, Wis. — Eyvind J. Peterson, 86, of Whitehall died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the services at the church Tuesday.
