Wesley Gene Allen, 24, of Independence, Wis., was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on River Valley Road and was thrown from the car.
A female passenger, whose name authorities have not released, was taken by helicopter to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis., where she is listed in stable but critical condition.
Police say Allen was northbound about 1:30 a.m. just south of County Road Q when he failed to negotiate a curve in foggy conditions. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department, Independence First Responders and Fire Department, Arcadia Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Mayo One helicopter responded to the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
