Area roundup: St. Charles knocks off Arcadia to stay unbeaten

ARCADIA, Wis. — In a scoreless tie heading into the seventh inning, the Saint Charles High School softball team finally got things going and scored three runs in the seventh to down Arcadia 3-0 Tuesday.

Emily Nelson hit a solo home run with one out in the top of the seventh to put the Saints on the board. Teammate Brianna Ihrke followed with a two-run double.

Audrey Swenson went 1-for-3 with a double and Emily Hoffman picked up the win in relief for the Saints (17-0).

Kayla Finner went seven innings, struck out six and went 2-for-3 at the plate for Arcadia.

GLENVILLE, Minn. — Kayla Nelson, Kailey Davis and Courtney Breamer all had two hits apiece to lead Glenville-Emmons.

Riley Hanson went 1-for-3 and Kayla O’Bieglo went six innings and struck out three for Mabel-Canton.

PRESTON, Minn. —n Logan Stuhr went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and Matt Sandstrom went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Wabasha-Kellogg over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro in the first game of a two-game stand for FC/L.

Ben Colvin and Ryan Ihrke each had a double and an RBI to lead St. Charles.

Tim Melver went a combined 4-for-6 with a triple on the day to lead FC/L.

L-A 5, Caledonia 3

CALEDONIA, Minn. — Cyril Pyfferoen hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning and Lewiston-Altura never trailed, despite three late runs by the Warriors.

Aaron Phillips struck out three and walked five in the complete-game win, while teammate Brady Bartelson was

2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Kevin Voight went 2-for-3 for the Warriors.
