The Winhawks split a doubleheader Thursday against Faribault, losing 14-0 in the opener before rebounding for a 12-3 win in the nightcap.
In Game 1, the Winhawks, who recorded just two hits, committed four errors, gave up seven hits, walked two batters and hit another in Faribault’s 12-run sixth inning.
“It was pretty quiet, as can be expected after getting thumped 14-0,” Smith said. “But the good thing about baseball is you finish a game and start the next one square.”
The Winhawks started Game 2 with a flurry, scoring three runs in the first, four in the third and five in the fourth.
Arik Jacquart and Jeff Walters each went 2-for-2 to lead the Winhawks.
