Published - Friday, May 09, 2008 Area Roundup: Dahl leads Cochrane-Fountain City past Immanuel FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. — Cochrane-Fountain City High School’s softball team avenged another loss. Nicki Dahl worked an extra inning for a complete game and the Pirates defeated Eau Claire Immanuel 2-1 in eight innings Thursday. C-FC’s Carrie Kabus hit a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth and scored the winning run from second on an error. Eau Claire Immanuel beat the Pirates (11-2-1, 11-2-1) in extra innings earlier this season. C-FC also avenged its only other loss, against Whitehall, earlier this season. Dahl struck out seven and held the Lancers to five hits and three walks. Lancers pitcher Jessie Meyer struck out 17 in the loss. Alma 16, Blair-Taylor 4 BLAIR, Wis. — Ali Ritscher pitched a complete game and went 4-for-5 with two doubles to lead Alma, which took advantage of 20 hits and seven B-T errors. Hiawatha Valley La Crescent 5, Pine Island 2 LA CRESCENT, Minn. — Kayla Trocinski had three RBIs to lead the Lancers, who scored three runs in the first inning. Three Rivers St. Charles 9, Dover-Eyota 0 ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Erin Abbott struck out seven over four innings and went 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead St. Charles, which extended its winning streak to 13 games. Kim Storey went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Emily Nelson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Saints. Chatfield 4-12, R-P 3-3 PETERSON, Minn. — It took eight innings for Chatfield to get the best of Rushford-Peterson in the first game. Chatfield won the game in the top of the eighth with a two-out double by Emily Miller. Kayla Rislove struck out 10 and walked one in eight innings of work for R-P. Ellen Becker, who was 2-for-3 with a double, struck out 14 and walked four. In Game 2, Chatfield scored eight runs in the fifth and final inning. Becker was 3-for-3 with two doubles. R-P’s Heather Vix was 2-for-3 in both games. Southeast Houston 10, M-C 0 (5) RIDGEWAY, Minn. — Jenni Ulmen went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, home run and four RBIs to lead the Hurricanes. Lindsay Henderson and Samantha Selness each had two hits to lead Mabel-Canton. Spring Grove/Caledonia 10, Hope Lutheran 0 (6) CALEDONIA, Minn. — Aly Meyer went 2-for-4 with a triple, Theresa Ellenz hit a home run and Jenna Schmitz went 2-for-2 to lead SG/C. Cassie Gran pitched a complete-game, two-hitter and struck out nine for the win. Arcadia 7, G-E-T 0 GALESVILLE, Wis. — Kayla Finner went 2-for-4 with a triple, struck out eight and allowed just three hits over a complete-game win to lead Arcadia over Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau. Chelsi Quinn went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Brook Finner added a double for the Raiders. Coulee Onalaska Luther 2, Westby 1 (8) ONALASKA, Wis. — Amy Dobrunz delivered a one-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Leslie Klinkski and lead Onalaska Luther to the walk-off win. Courtney Hoeg allowed a run in the first inning but held Westby scoreless over the next seven. The junior scattered six hits and struck out five. Baseball Three Rivers Caledonia 1-1, R-P 0-13 RUSHFORD, Minn. — Kevin Voigt scored Ryan Goetzinger with an RBI single in the second inning, and Alex Klug scattered four hits and struck out 11 to lead Caledonia to the win in the opener. Parker Brand, who went 2-for-3 in Game 1, went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Rushford-Peterson to the win in the nightcap. P-E-M 4, L-A 0 LEWISTON, Minn. — Ross Grobe broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a two-out, solo home run to lead Plainview-Elgin-Millville over Lewiston-Altura. Southland 13-13, FC 1-1 PRESTON, Minn. — Brian Voigt was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs in the five-inning, Game 2 win for Southland. Chris May struck out seven and walked none in the Bombers’ opening win. Matt Schroeder and Kody Retterath had home runs in that one for Southland. Southeast Spring Grove 13-25, Hope Lutheran 2-3 SPRING GROVE, Minn. — Dakotah Rostad went 5-for-7 with two doubles to lead Spring Grove, which had 28 hits during the doubleheader sweep. Ted Schwerzler went 2-for-3 in Game 1 and added a double in Game 2 for Hope Lutheran. M-C 7, Houston 3 HOUSTON, Minn. — Sam Storlie and Blaine Coyle each went 3-for-4 and Zach Lind and Nick Richert each hit home runs to lift Mabel-Canton. M-C sophomore Travis Nichols struck out four over four innings to pick up the win. Track and Field Section 1A True Team Meet RUSHFORD, Minn. — Kristen Ostrem won the 800-meter dash (2 minutes, 27.98 seconds) and the 1,600 (5:34.26) to lead Rushford-Peterson to the girls title. Yvonne Freese won the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 10 1/4 inches and the discus (112-11) to lead Fillmore Central/Lanesboro to a fourth-place team finish. Wabasha-Kellogg’s Lauren Kuklinski won the 300 hurdles in 49.4 and the triple jump in 32.02. The Falcons finished fifth. On the boys side, Fllmore Central swept four relay events to win the team title. FC/L also had five individual event winners, including Jordan Jarland, who won both the high jump (5-10) and the triple jump (41-8 1/4). Lewiston-Altura’s Tanner Ties won the pole vault at 13-5 as the Cardinals finished sixth in the team results.
