Published - Thursday, May 08, 2008 Ordway Center plans expansion ST. PAUL — The Ordway Center in St. Paul is planning a renovation that would make it the home of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Preliminary plans call for replacing the Ordway’s 306-seat McKnight Theatre with a 1,000-seat concert hall. Minnesota Opera president Kevin Smith says it’s a tantalizing vision for the Ordway, but it’s still in the early stages. The Ordway opened in 1985 as the flagship arts venue of St. Paul. Last year, 359,000 patrons attended its mix of operas, concerts and other shows.
